BBC launches iPad App

by David Allen

With iPad hitting the shelves in the US over the weekend, attention now turns to the iPad Apps and one in particular is standing out and it is from the BBC.

Americans can download the BBC’s iPad App which allows them to get breaking news and access to a lot of content produced by the BBC News centre.

In the UK, owners of the iPhone cannot get the BBC News App because the BBC Trust has delayed the launch due to the cost, and yet Americans are able to access this service which, granted, does have built in advertising.

One other interesting item that is available to the US market only, is the one minute video news summary.

This keeps the user up to date with what is happening on the BBC News channel and allows the downloading of content for offline viewing.
