The superstore Tesco has chosen the Electra Entertainment platform to provide Freeview products for TVs and set top boxes.

Under the agreement Tesco will be supplied with the Trove platform from Electra Entertainment to provide a link between IP and broadcast services.

The media player will be available from June 2010 in Freeview televisions, set top box and personal video recorders.

Users will be able to access Freeview services, as well as connecting to the internet, playing games and on demand services.

At the same time, Electra will be launching an interactive TV channel on the Freeview platform called Channel Zero.

It will provide the viewers with PlayJam Games, What’s On TV Magazine, Met Office Weather and Reuters News.

Tesco will be adopting the Trove platform and Channel Zero across the range of Freeview devices.
