Splinter Cell grabs UK video game number one

Ubisoft has managed to hold the number one and two spots in the UK video game chart for the first time in the company’s history.

A bit like the time Frankie Goes to Hollywood held the singles top two with Two Tribes and Relax, albeit considerably less controversially.

According to the stats from Chart Track, Ubisoft has claimed the top spot with its freshly released stealth-’em-up Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction.

And it has the number two spot as well, with the surprisingly popular Just Dance, which continues its successful run of sales since Christmas. Just Dance was last week’s number one, in fact.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is at number three, with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 from EA slipping down to number four.

Wii Fit Plus pushes up to number five, proving that good exercise games never die, and Just Cause 2 follows behind that.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has slid back down to number 9, and looks like it might finally exit the top ten after a long-running splurge of sales.

Of course, now we’ve said that, it’s destined to head back up the charts, probably.
