The Sun goes 3D

April 29, 2010

It seems that even newspapers are toying with 3D technology, as The Sun is planning a special 3D issue of the daily newspaper on the 5th June, which also happens to be the week before the World Cup.

The special edition will feature colour advertising, editorial and even something on page 3, all in 3D.

According to the Media Week, advertisers wishing to get their adverts into this very special 3D edition of the newspaper will have to be willing to pay a premium on top of what they would normally pay, as circulation is expected to increase by hundreds of thousands of copies.

Readers will be given a free pair of 3D glasses so that the content can quite literally reach out and grab them.

A marketing campaign is expected to start in May.

That sounds A.W.E.S.O.M.E !! 3D print media has only been available in special books or magazines, but a newspaper? This should be god. Pity I’m in South Africa…… :(
