Following the decision by the media Ofcom to create a level playing field within the pay TV sector, it seems that BT and Top Up TV are going to be the first digital TV providers to offer their customers cut price premium sports channels.

Despite BSkyB’s obvious appeal, the rule change still means that Sky Sports 1 and 2 will have to be offered to wholesale buyers at a price 23.4 per cent or 10.5 per cent lower than they were previously charged.

Top Up TV will be offering Sky Sports 1 and 2 to Freeview digital TV users for around £20 per month, while BT has indicated that it will be offering Sky Sports 1 to its BT Vision customers for £15 per month.
