Webby win for BBC Online

The BBC’s online presence has won two of the so called “Peoples Voice” awards at the Webby awards.

These are awarded in recognition of excellence on the internet.

Winning awards through votes from the public is always better than winning those judged by a panel of industry experts and both awards won by the BBC were in fact voted on by the public.

The BBC News website once again walked away with the best news website award.

This will be the sixth year in a row that it has won this award.

The other winner was BBC Blast, a youth orientated site, which won the award for net art.

This shows how the people feel about the channel, despite the threat of it being cutback under the recent BBC review.
