Today’s the day, and on schedule as planned, the Apple iPad is available for pre-order in the UK from this morning.

The “magical” iPad, which has sold over a million in the US, can now be pre-ordered from the Apple store (http://store.apple.com/uk).

If you want the plain wi-fi version, that costs £429, £499 and £599, for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions respectively.

If it’s the 3G version that tickles your mobile fancy, that will set you back more at £529, £599 and £699 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models respectively.

That includes free shipping, although the UK iPad is still a little more expensive than we were hoping for.

3G data plan pricing has also been announced this morning. Plans from O2 and Orange stack up fairly similarly, from £2 for daily access, and £10 per month for 1GB worth of data allowance.

For the exact details, see the story we’ve written on this very issue this morning.

The iPad itself will be out on May 28th. Are you planning on joining Apple’s touchscreen tablet revolution? Or would you not touch it with a barge-pole?

Just brought a 32gb wi-fi back from the US and it’s fantastic. You only appreciate how intuitive it actually is once you start using it, and believe me, I’m not usually an Apple preacher.
