ZOMM, a wireless leash that helps people keep track of their mobile phones, has caught the eye of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).

The SIG has named ZOMM as ‘One to Watch’, because of its innovative use of Bluetooth technology and universal appeal.

ZOMM detects how far it is from a wirelessly connected mobile phone, and will alert the owner with an audible alarm, as well as vibration and a flashing light, if the phone is removed from its vicinity.

ZOMM also provides call notification and speakerphone capabilities allowing the user to answer calls directly from the device.

Users can also call for emergency assistant from anywhere in the world by pressing a button on the device.

“Through the use of Bluetooth wireless technology, ZOMM provides an array of convenient applications for users,” said Michael Foley, Ph.D., executive director of the Bluetooth SIG.

“Its simple application of Bluetooth technology appeals to the masses – nobody wants to lose their mobile phone.”
