The satellite system provider Arqiva will be making two of its transponders on the Astra satellite system, located at 19 degrees east, available for MTV, following a contract renewal between the two firms.

According to the commercial director of Arqiva satellite and media, Malcolm Campbell, the company is pleased to be dealing with MTV once more, having renewed the contract for an uplink service to the Astra satellite.

Arqiva will be providing a fibre link between the MTV facilities in London and the company’s teleport in the city, which is where the uplink takes place to the two transponders on the Astra satellite.

The deal with MTV is just part of huge network operated by Arqiva that amounts to around four hundred standard and high definition TV channels.
