BBC hires vicar for staff moves

May 17, 2010

The upheaval of moving to another area and starting a new job can be a little stressful for some people, but the lucky folks at the BBC are not only are getting a relocation fee of up to £11,000, they are also getting the services of a £30K per year vicar, hired by the BBC to help them through this terrible time.

Around 1,500 staff will be making the move up to Salford next year and by the end of 2011 many of the popular shows on the BBC will be coming from the new site, a 220 acre plot at Salford Quays in a place to be known as Mediacity.

Not only will the BBC fork out around £200 million on the move, the corporation will also be offering to buy employees’ homes for around 85 per cent of their value!

Can you point me to the BBC recruitment page where is advertises for a vicar? Only, as I understand it, the chaplain in question is to be an employee of MediaCityUK and therefore no direct connection to the BBC.

Lazy ‘journalism’. Please find out the facts before you copy and paste. The BBC are not hiring a vicar the Church is.

Your figures are also questionable. Do you have a source for them?
