UK still falling behind on broadband

May 17, 2010

It seems that despite the rolling out of fibre optic broadband, the UK is at risk of lagging further behind when it comes to broadband speeds, unless more investment is made in order to prevent this from happening.

The report by Webro comes as BT announces a further £1 billion investment into the rolling out of next generation broadband services but, by its own figures, this investment will only mean that 66 per cent of the population will be getting access to this service by 2015!

There is no mention of the homes and small business that have no access to fast broadband services.

It is estimated that this last 30 per cent of the UK is going to need investment from the government to join the superfast broadband revolution.
