Virgin Media accused of blocking sites

Subscribers to Virgin Media have been unable to access online file storage facilities such as Rapidshare and MegaUpload.

This is believed to be because of a fault on the Virgin Media network, although there are some people who think this could be a result of speed throttling.

According to a tweet on the Virgin Media Twitter site, the company states that it is aware of the issues and is working to restore access to the sites as soon as possible.

In fact, the firm has gone out its way to make sure that users understand that the issue is not down to Virgin Media.

Some suggestions are that the network is being influenced the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) child abuse filter, which could be down to Virgin Media at the end of the day.
