It looks as if Google and Intel are getting ready to announce the Smart TV platform with partner Sony, with an announcement expected within the next few days.

According to the Financial Times, both Google and Intel will be formally announcing the arrival of the Smart TV online digital television at the Google annual developer’s conference in San Francisco.

The concept is that a Sony television will be fitted with Intel’s Atom microprocessor and loaded with Google’s Android operating system to produce the much anticipated Smart TV.

It is expected that new applications for the Smart TV will come from the wide ranging Android developer community.

Even so, it is believed that the Smart TV system will be appearing in Sony Products during the summer of this year.
