The London Evening Standard has produced a new app for smartphones.

The mobile news app will be available free of charge on the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Windows Mobile devices.

Produced in association with Handmark, it provides readers with real-time access to all the latest headlines from the Evening Standard.

News is divided into categories for easy navigation, with sections that range from business through sport to showbiz.

Users can save out articles from the app for later reading, or share them with friends over social networking sites, with Twitter and Facebook supported.

“We are excited to introduce our new mobile application so our readers can now enjoy the convenience of having instant access to our trusted news and information on the go,” said Tim Smith, General Manager Digital at the London Evening Standard.

“The mobile application provides an extremely intuitive, personalized experience and supports a great sharing experience.”
