Not many people could have missed the Pac-Man logo on the Google search home page.
It celebrated the 30th anniversary of the hungry animation and for the world’s employers it cost a staggering £84 million in lost hours.
What made this worse was the fact that the Pac-Man doodle was playable and anyone that has been on it will also know that it is highly addictive.
In fact it has been estimated that the average visitor spent thirty six seconds longer on the page than normal.
The only factor that employers should be grateful for is that according to the data obtained by Wolfram Alpha, 75 per cent of the site’s visitors had no idea that the game was playable and so carried on with their search.
