The BBC has taken on one of its former trainees, Andy Brereton, at BBC Entertainment, with a view to developing new and exciting comedy series and shows for the corporation.

The BBC has been looking at the light entertainment section as a potential growth area.

Andy Brereton will be working closely with the head of format development, Sarah Edwards.

Starting at the BBC as trainee in the light entertainment division, Brereton moved onto 12 Yard, working on Coach Trip and Eggheads before moving onto TalkbackThames, where he worked on The King is Dead and Take me Out.

BBC in house productions are key to the corporation’s continued success, as the show created will go on to support drama and sport.

Andy Brereton’s experience in this field is vital.
