Vodafone has revealed that it will be selling the Nokia N8, and has put the smartphone up on its site.

Apparently the much anticipated new flagship Nokia handset is “coming soon”, which is news to us, as we thought it was due out in the third quarter of this year. Although we suppose technically, that could be July 1st, which just about qualifies as soon.

At any rate, no exact dates or prices are being talked yet, but as usual, you can register on the Vodafone site to be kept updated when the specifics are revealed.

The N8 boasts a spec that’s got many folks excited, particularly snappers who will really appreciate the 12 megapixel camera, complete with Carl Zeiss optics and a sensor the Finnish company claims rivals that of a compact digital camera.

The camera is capable of recording HD quality video, apparently, plus there’s a built-in video editing application. The phone also sports Dolby Digital Plus surround if you plug it into your home cinema amp.

Other specs include a 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen, 16GB of memory, GPS, bluetooth and 3G.

On top of this, it will allegedly be the first smartphone on the market to use the new Symbian^3 operating system.

You can see why it’s keenly awaited by many. We’ll keep you up to date as soon as we hear any further details.
