£150000 to install BT broadband

When pensioner Beverley McCartney asked BT to connect her home in Salem, near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire in Wales to the broadband network she could never have known that BT would quote her over £150,000 for doing the job.

On other occasions when she had enquired about getting broadband, her request was just denied, however in a letter sent out a few days ago, it seems that BT were going to get on with the job.

The letter was not actually a confirmation of the connection, as BT would need a contribution to the costs of the job, estimated to be over £150,000, although BT did say that they would contribute a percentage that worked out around £8,000!

Amazingly, Salam is a community of around fifty homes situated about three miles from Llandeilo, so why there should be such a problem connecting it to broadband remains unclear.
