Qualcomm has announced a new 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon chipset for mobile phones.

Not only are we talking more grunt, but lower power consumption too. Meaning that your mobile phone – or tablet – battery will last longer.

The new chipset will feature a GPU with 2D and 3D support, and will be able to handle 1080p HD video.

According to TechRadar, it will also boast an integrated low power GPS, which will mean more life for your smartphone as a GPS device.

When we’ll actually see these little beasts in a smartphone is an unknown quantity, mind you. But it probably won’t be until much later this year, if not next.
