New BT strike treat

Having failed to reach an agreement with the management, staff at BT will be balloted on the next step, which is likely to be industrial action.

The Communications Workers Union (CWU) gave the management at BT until the 4th June to come up with a revised pay offer, following the huge increase in profits that the company announced a couple of weeks ago.

Should the ballot be in favour of industrial action, there could be wide ranging disruption affecting broadband, phone and even the emergency call service.

Services may not be initially affected and problems may only become apparent should faults begin to appear on the network.

Normally these would be worked on ASAP, but industrial action could mean lengthy delays in getting these problems fixed.
