BBC Alba picks up Magners

Rugby fans will be able to experience live coverage of the Magners Rugby League on the Gaelic language channel BBC Alba, following the signing of a four year deal, which will see the channel showing at least eight live home games starting with the 2010/11 season.

This is a deal that will allow the channel to gain access to the Irish and Welsh public broadcast network.

That means that if the money and the schedule allows, the channel can show as many live away games too.

BBC Alba is currently available on Freesat, BSkyB and online via the BBC iPlayer.

Freeview and the cable digital TV service Virgin Media do not carry BBC Alba, yet!

Questions are still being asked about STV and BBC Scotland’s commitment to live sport.
