BT has announced that it will be connecting the Soho area of Birmingham to the superfast broadband network, as part of its roll out of next generation broadband services, in which it is investing £2.5 billion.

Once completed the network will be fully capable of offering an up to 60 Mbps connection speed in the future, but initially residents of the area will be able to experience broadband speeds of up to 40 Mbps.

Residents and small businesses will be able to experience broadband at speeds that a couple of years ago would have been thought of as being an impossible dream.

According to the regional director of BT, John Dovey, this announcement is an exciting development for the region’s households and small businesses.
