ITV sorry for ads instead of the goal!

June 15, 2010

It seems that the HD broadcast of England’s first match of the World Cup was made up of blunders and ITV has been apologising to fans who were watching the match between England and the USA on ITV1 HD.

Around 1.5 million fans had tuned in for the first match and within a few minutes of the kick off things began to go wrong as a twenty second advert interrupted the coverage.

Once the advert had finished viewers were shocked and furious to see the England team celebrating the first goal of the tournament.

ITV has blamed Technicolor, the firm that transmits the ITV channels, but that does not help viewers.

According to the bookmaker Paddy Power, it was offering odds of 8-1 that something like this would happen and many fans took that bet!
