Jeremy Hunt eases the BBC’s fears

June 15, 2010

The BBC is a “Crown Jewel” according to the new Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt, in an interview with the Guardian newspaper.

This must come as relief to the BBC, especially as before the election the BBC, the BBC Trust and the TV Licence fee were all under the Conservative spot light.

It appears now that there will be no decision on the TV Licence until 2011 at the earliest, however changing the way that the TV Licence is collected has not been ruled out, due to the amount of people tuning to online content.

So what does that mean?

Is the government thinking about a broadband tax to replace the TV Licence or in addition to it?

One thing is for sure, there are changes ahead for the BBC, the BBC Trust and the TV Licence.
