Microsoft working on 3D technology

June 15, 2010

It would seem that diversification is the keyword for business success these days and Microsoft is a firm that could use some new ideas and products, so what about a new type of lens that is used on TV screens to allow viewers to see a 3D broadcast without having to wear 3D glasses.

That is what the Applied Science Group at Microsoft has come up with and no matter how it is explained, the technology is interesting as it will transmit different images to each eye, producing the 3D effect.

The lens uses a specially designed camera to track the position of the eye so that the images can be beamed to the correct eye at the right time, otherwise, 3D would not work at all.

The only drawback is that it can show 3D to up to two people and then its 2D for up to four people.
