Global fixed line broadband generates record revenues

Despite the financial difficulties of the past couple of years, global revenues generated from fixed line broadband services continue to grow.

In fact, according to ABI Research, this worldwide growth is expected to reach £126 billion by the end of this year, which is an improvement on the previous year of around fourteen per cent.

The data produced by the research firm shows that DSL is still the platform generating the most revenue, but superfast broadband provided through a fibre optic connection is the fastest growing service of all.

The cost of broadband around the world varies considerably and so does the method of connection.

While the fibre rollout brings faster connection speeds, it also offers the consumer better value for money in some countries than DSL broadband does.
