Panasonic launches the DMR BW380

There are plenty of options to choose from when a consumer decides to go for the free to view digital TV service Freeview.

However, when it gets to the higher end, the choice becomes narrower with only the big names providing equipment in this sector.

The Panasonic DMR XW380 is one of the first set top boxes to offer the Freeview+ HD service alongside a built in DVD recorder, which is unusual for a Freeview HD set top box.

It is priced at the higher end of the scale at around £480, but the consumer is getting more than just a set top box offering an HD digital TV service.

What makes this set top box even more interesting is the fact that this is a basic version with more sophisticated machines on their way.
