BBC improves its HD signal quality

by David Allen

Last August the BBC introduced now encoders for the BBC HD channel.

This was noticed because, despite what the BBC said, viewers could see that the quality of the picture had gone down and so a campaign began.

This campaign seemed to be getting nowhere and the BBC continued to state that the picture quality was just the same as before, despite the bandwidth being turned down from 16 Mbps to 9.7 Mbps.

Now it seems that a few weeks ago the BBC decide to take this matter seriously and changed the quality of the picture back to where it should be.

But wait a minute! This happened a few weeks ago and yet nobody appears to have noticed that better quality of the picture on the BBC HD channel!
