Nintendo 3D tech not for TVs

With the launch of the Nintendo 3DS, this glasses-free 3D technology would appear to be ideal for 3D Ready TVs, but it seems that this isn’t so.

The president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, has suggested that although this technology is impressive on the small screen hand held games machine, it is not likely to find its way into televisions.

3D television requires the viewer to wear 3D glasses and although initially there is the fun factor, the wearing of 3D glasses, especially in the home, is a barrier to the sale of 3D Ready TVs.

However, the technology used to produce the 3D effect on the Nintendo 3DS is not commercially or physically compatible with TVs yet.
