Vintage TV appearing on Freesat

June 29, 2010

A new TV channel is about to be created, which will be aimed at the over fifties and will be called Vintage TV.

The 24 hour channel will be launching on the 1st September and will initially be available on the satellite platforms Freesat and Sky TV.

The target market of those over fifty will be able to experience music, fashion and culture from the 1940s to the 1980s, with 40 per cent of the output being original programming, although exactly what type of content is yet to be announced.

The main presenter will be Paul Gambaccini, with other famous names including Debbie Harry, Rick Wakeman and Roger Daltrey.

Although the channel will be producing original content, there will also be material from the archives of the BBC, Channel Four and news archives too.

Hopefully there will be some classic ’80s television getting shown. Grange Hill would be a good one to start with!
