BBC looks into pensions

June 30, 2010

As if the cutbacks and top slicing of the TV Licence were not enough for the BBC to worry about, it seems that the subject of pensions is going to play a large part in the future financing of corporation.

Currently there is a deficit of around £2 billion, which means that the BBC will need to tackle this issue before it gets totally out of hand and one of the easiest ways of doing this would be to close it to new members.

Pension reform is going to affect many of the older businesses in the UK and those with more employees are going to suffer more as time goes on.

For the BBC it has been estimated that for every year that life expectancy increases, its costs the pension fund £35 million!
