STV signs deal with YouTube

The Scottish broadcaster STV and ITV, the regional licence holder, have come to an arrangement with Google that will see over two and half thousand hours of content being made available on the video site YouTube.

It is hoped that this deal will open up a valuable extra line of advertising revenue from the broadcaster’s latest programmes, as well of content from the STV archives, dating back as far as the 1950s.

This will also mean that for the first time, viewers from outside of the STV region will be able to see content never seen before, including sporting events, music shows and home grown soap style series.

The STV content is due to go live on the YouTube site by the end of the summer.
