3 announces cheap tariff called The One Plan

3 has just announced a new plan for those looking for what the company describes as “a plan that has more than enough of everything, at a more affordable price”.

It’s called The One Plan, inviting any number of gags about Christine Bleakley, Frodo, Neo, or indeed Highlander at a stretch (“there can be only one”).

What this tariff offers is a sim-only package on a 12 month contract with 2000 minutes, 5000 3 to 3 minutes, 5000 texts and 1GB of mobile Internet for £25 per month. That’s pretty impressive value for money – the only thing lacking is unlimited texts, but 5000 should be plenty enough to keep all but the most textually verbose happy.

Alternatively, if you want a phone with the deal, there’s a variant of that with The One Plan, although it’s a two year contract as opposed to the 12 month sim-only. It provides the same package, and you get a choice of various phones to go with it, with prices starting at £28 per month or more depending on which mobile you want.

For £28 you can pick up an LG Viewty GT Silver, or a Nokia 2730, but if you want the likes of the HTC Desire or Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, then you’ll be paying £35 and £40 per month respectively.

It’s certainly a plan that the other operators will be forced to sit up and notice.
