AverMedia launches new digital TV tuner

Portable digital TV tuners, like the AverTV HD Volar A867R from AverMedia, can revolutionise the way that some people watch TV.

This device plugs into the USB port of a computer running Windows Vista or 7 and the user can watch the free to view digital TV service Freeview through the Windows Media Centre.

Alternatively, the user can watch DVD or video playback using the device’s remote control.

The AverTV HD Volar comes with an electronic programme guide similar to those available on other personal video recorders (PVR) such as Sky+, this allows the viewer to record, pause and rewind live TV.

However, with one major difference, it is all done on a computer rather than the TV that is stuck in the corner of the living room.
