The commercial division of the BBC has posted record profits for the year up to March 2009.
BBC Worldwide had revenues of £1.07 billion and returned a profit of £145.2 million for the year, which is up by a third on the previous year.
The revenues for BBCW have been boosted by sales of the top BBC brands such as Dr Who, Top Gear, Planet Earth and Life.
Revenues are generated through DVD and programme sales, as well as the hugely successful publication business that is responsible for the production of magazines which are tied into BBC television shows and of course the Radio Times listing magazine.
However, with this level of profits the dreaded bonus becomes a reality and is bound to create a barrage of questions.
