T-Mobile finally reveals iPhone 4 tariffs

T-Mobile has revealed how much it is going to charge for the iPhone 4, being the last company to unveil its tariffs in the UK.

And its prices are unlikely to get many people jumping up and down with excitement, particularly when you compare them to some of the more competitive offerings, such as 3’s iPhone 4 deals.

Want a free handset with T-Mobile? Then you’ll need the £60 per month iPhone 4 16GB two year plan, which gives you unlimited minutes (well, 3000 minutes due to fair use), 500 texts and 1GB of data.

Compare that with 3, where the £45 per month deal gives you the 16GB handset for gratis, along with 2000 minutes, 5000 texts and 1GB of Internet. We know which deal we’d be taking.

At the mid-range £35 per month level, T-Mobile offers up the iPhone 4 16GB for £189 along with 600 minutes, 500 texts and 500MB data. The 32GB version of the phone is £269 at this level.

Again, compare that to 3, which at the £35 per month mark sells the 16GB handset for £99 and the 32GB for £189. That’s with 900 minutes, 5000 texts and 1GB of Internet. All of these are two year deals, incidentally.

One thing that T-Mobile does have over 3 is that it’s offering a budget £25 per month deal, but of course the handset costs dearly here, at £259 for the 16GB version and £349 for the 32GB. This also has a rather paltry 100 minutes and 100 texts, along with 500MB data.

In comparison, Vodafone does a £25 a month deal and charges £219 for the 16GB handset, £40 less than T-Mobile. That comes with slightly less minutes at 75, but more texts at 250 (T-Mobile seem very stingy on the old texts), and twice the mobile data at 1GB.

The better news comes on the PAYG front, where T-Mobile has the iPhone 4 16GB for £499, plus a £10 monthly top-up for cheap international calling rates, free texts and 12 months of free mobile Internet. The 32GB phone isn’t available on PAYG, however.

Having said that, the 16GB phone isn’t available either yet, as you can’t actually buy one from T-Mobile right now, due to those ever-present stock issues. At least you know what you’ll have to cough up when they do finally get them in.
