Germans to probe Facebook

by David Allen

The social networking site Facebook is facing an investigation by the German authorities who believe that the site is in breach of the country’s strict privacy laws.

It all comes down to the saving of data from third parties, and with Germany’s privacy laws being amongst the strictest in the world, Facebook could be in for a bumpy ride.

This issue comes from complaints by German citizens who found that their details were on Facebook when they were not members of the site.

This occurs when other friends and colleagues add their details.

But it seems that Facebook has been saving these details and then using the data for marketing purposes.

It is this that people have been complaining about and why the German authorities are getting involved.
