Images of a new Apple iPhone 4 are doing the rounds.

They show the device and part of the Apple USB charger cable with significant burn damage.

The images were provided through someone inside the US phone service provider AT&T.

The phone was taken to one of the provider’s stores where the owner asked if it could be fixed.

However, considering the amount of damage, this is clearly not possible.

The device caught fire while it was connected to the owner’s PC and according to Apple, it would appear to be an issue with the USB port, rather than something else within the device itself.

The owner of the phone has a slight burn, while the phone has damage at the bottom around the cable connector port and the USB cable is totally destroyed.
