The television maker Panasonic has announced that it is building a partnership with Acetrax to develop a new and innovative service.
This will include video streaming as well as a cloud based film download service designed for owners of internet connected Viera televisions.
If it catches on, this new services could challenge some of major providers of TV content, such as BSkyB, BBC, BT and Virgin Media, not on scale that threatens them, but on a level that is just enough to get it noticed by the big boys.
This service is proving very popular with the main US film producers, with Paramount, Warner and Universal signing agreements with Panasonic for inclusion into the service.
It is estimated there could be as many as twenty thousand titles available to the user.
