Martha Lane Fox launches campaign

July 13, 2010

The founder of and the UK’s digital champion, Martha Lane Fox, has launched a Manifesto for a Networked Nation, which is backed by the Race Online 2012 scheme, the aim of which is to get more people online before the London Olympic Games.

It is estimated that around ten million people in the UK do not have access to the internet and these are not old or young people either, these are people of working age who could benefit in many ways by being able to go online.

The initial target is to have around two million more people online before 2012, but the wider goal is to have everyone online by 2015.

This is a huge task by anyone’s standards and yet according to Martha Lane Fox, by helping these people to get online, everyone wins!
