Streaming music outfit We7 has expanded its remit to offer news bulletins along with tunes.

The music service has partnered up with GMG Radio in order to broadcast real-time breaking news, so listeners don’t miss out on what’s happening in the world.

We7 says that this will allow its three million UK users to access the best of digital and traditional media simultaneously.

CEO of We7, Steve Purdham, explains: “This partnership marries high quality news production and delivery with the new paradigm of on-demand music. Radio and cloud based music can learn a great deal from each other, so we are really excited about working with GMG Radio.”

We7 is a free UK based streaming service which employs an advertising funded business model, and offers a library of some five million tracks.
