The satellite sports channel Sky Sports will be showing the World Matchplay Darts championships in full 3D later on this month.

This is just another sporting event to get the Sky 3D Channel treatment.

The action takes place during the 24th and 25th July when the semi finals and final of the competition take place at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

In order to cover the event Sky Sports will be using its seven camera 3D rig in addition to the standard equipment already being used to cover the early rounds of the competition.

For Sky Sports and its subscribers, darts will become the fifth sport to be covered in 3D.
