The amount of spam coming from the UK is increasing, with the country moving up the league table of spammers which is kept by security firm Sophos.

The USA is top of the chart for April to June 2010, with 15.2% of spam originating from there, which is up a fair bit on the 13.1% Sophos reported in their last league.

India is in second place on 7.7%, Brazil is third on 5.5%, and the UK is now fourth on 4.6%. In the last chart, the UK was joint ninth with 3.1%.

We’ve hopped over South Korea, who were fourth last time with 4.8%, but that has now dropped to 4.2%, and their position to fifth place.

Europe as a continent has now become the most spam-laden, with 35% of spam emerging from Europe, 31% from Asia, and 19% from North America. South America represents 11.5%, Africa 2.5%, and “other” is 1.2% (presumably Australia and the penguins).
