BBC sells audio books division

July 19, 2010

The new owner of BBC Audiobooks, AudioGo, has pledged to invest millions of pounds into the division to produce a library of digital content that is more attractive to today’s digital consumers.

The group is headed up by the former Polygram executive Michael Kuhn.

He has promised the investment and stated that the firm will be producing a new range of titles written by celebrities and sports stars.

BBC Audiobooks is one of those businesses that continued to trade in the modern world, but whose business practices were slightly dated and this is an opportunity for new business.

With digital content in demand, AudioGo has a good opportunity to offer all of that older content to a new market.
