Motorola keeps STB division

July 20, 2010

It has been a long time coming but finally Motorola has decided in which direction the company will be moving and its master plan of dividing the company into two is becoming more of a reality.

In a deal said to be worth around $1.2 billion, Motorola has sold the wireless networking business to rival Nokia Siemens Networks.

This will leave Motorola with the Smartphone and set top box businesses, both of which will now be split into two separate divisions.

This will allow the firms to work on their individual efforts without being affected by the other business.

It will be interesting to see how well the slimmed down Motorola goes about developing the Smartphone and set top box divisions.
