Apple’s profits boom with iPhone 4 and iPad

After all the sales boasting we’ve been hearing about between the iPad and recently released iPhone 4, it’s no surprise that Apple has just posted some impressive fiscal figures.

The Cupertino based outfit racked up a profit of $3.25 billion in its third quarter, not far off double what it achieved in the same period last year ($1.8 billion).

Total sales hit a new quarterly record of $15.7 billion, which was 50% more than the same period last year.

This isn’t surprising given that iPad sales have crested the 3 million mark, and the iPhone 4, despite its high profile antenna problems, has led Apple’s iconic smartphone to 8 million plus units shifted.

The iPhone 4 is still seriously struggling with stock issues due to demand, and all this must add up to one happy Steve Jobs.

Mac sales are performing strongly, too, shifting 3.5 million units.
