Sky Arts gets South Bank Show

Digital TV has a lot to answer for, but one thing that it seems to have been good for recently is keeping old shows going, not repeats!

However, these are new series of long established shows that the main channels have deemed out of touch or just out of time.

This happened with Primeval when ITV cut the show only to find that a deal between ITV, Watch, Impossible Pictures, German broadcaster Pro7 and BBC Worldwide kept the show going.

The same has to be said for the South Bank Show.

This was first seen in 1978 and yet ITV recently decided that there was no longer a place for it.

However, Sky Arts has stepped in and taken the show and the South Bank Awards following a deal with presenter Lord Bragg.
