Virgin Media launching Comedy Central HD

August 6, 2010

Virgin Media will add Comedy Central HD to its channel line up in September, making shows such as Two and a Half Men, 30 Rock and South Park available in high definition.

Some of the channel’s HD programmes will also be available on demand.

The launch of the new channel will take Virgin Media’s HD channel line-up to 26, and more HD channels will follow Comedy Central later in the year.

Comedy Central HD was launched in the US in January 2009.

Virgin Media has just launched a beta version of its online and mobile TV player in the UK.

This offers the standard definition programmes from Comedy Central following a deal with MTV Networks UK & Ireland.

Comedy Central HD and the Virgin Media Player are both available to the company’s XL TV customers.

Customers need to register at www.virginmedia.com/player to try out the media player – of course they also need to have broadband.
