Virgin to sell its half of UKTV

It seems that Virgin Media is set to sell its 50% stake in UKTV, which it jointly owns with BBC Worldwide.

UKTV encompasses channels Dave and Gold, which air comedy re-runs and other classic shows. It boasts ten channels in total, with the others comprising the likes of Alibi, Home, Good Food, Blighty and Yesterday.

Virgin is looking to raise some £350 million from flogging off its half of the business, The Sunday Times reports, with investment banking giants UBS and Goldman Sachs on the case to push the sale through.

BBC Worldwide has first dibs and will have to decide if it wants to take on the entire mantle of UKTV itself. Otherwise, potential buyers could include Sky.
