Samsung Galaxy portable media player is spotted

Not satisfied with making an iPhone killer smartphone in the very well received Galaxy S, Samsung is also set to take Apple’s iPod Touch on.

Yes, apparently the company has the YP-MB2 portable media player in the pipeline. Though it may be christened the Samsung Galaxy Player (to go alongside the Samsung Galaxy Tablet).

Everything is the Galaxy with Samsung these days. Presumably, the next-gen hardware will be the Samsung Universe, although where the company will go from there is anyone’s guess. Alternate planes of existence, possibly.

Anyhow, this news comes from Samsung Hub (via TechRadar) who have pics of the player, and some details on the spec, too. It will reportedly run Android, and will be similar to the Galaxy S phone, with a 4 inch super AMOLED display, 1GHz processor, a 3 megapixel camera, bluetooth and wi-fi. Basically, the Galaxy S without the phone bits, and a lesser camera.

There’s no clue on the pricing or release window as yet.
